The European Commission’s last quarterly report on electricity prices showed UK prices to be amongst the lowest in the EU for business customers. However, Bulgaria, Finland and France are still cheaper.
The report notes a decoupling of the gas and oil markets in the early part of the year, with gas holding but oil suffering from the closure of some North Sea facilities and Libyan production being cut.
