The provision of research and development is a significant part of FEC Services' business. We have a team of highly qualified engineers/scientists who specialise in monitoring and system development.

Particular skills lie in environmental control systems and monitoring, heating, ventilation and lighting systems, waste and pollution treatment, renewable energy, strategic market assessments. We particularly enjoy near market practical and influential work. We pride ourselves on clear technical writing and interpretation of results.

We feel that the results of research and development should be for everybody not just the educated few and we are keen to adopt novel methods of communication like multimedia and the Internet to allow understandable and widespread availability of information.

Case study

FEC Services' engineers were asked to review the international status of a concept called the closed greenhouse. This concept was developed in the Netherlands and involves systems of mechanical ventilation and the storage of energy in ground source aquifers.

Results of the work have led to the development of new projects in the UK to commercialise some of the more promising features for our horticultural industry.
