We provide anything from practical on-site investigation into the efficiency and management of energy-based techniques to desktop studies on the energy market and how it is affecting their market sectors. Other projects have involved training, software development and publication/newsletter production.

Case study

FEC was chosen to lead an investigation into the development of a concept known as the closed greenhouse which is starting to gain momentum in the Netherlands. The system uses a novel mechanical ventilation system together with large heat exchangers to provide both heating and cooling.

Aquifers are used to store recovered energy for heating and cooling and as such energy costs are reduced. Research showed that some of the components of the closed greenhouse concept may have application in the UK but geological conditions may severely limit the application of the heat recovery technology.
