For several years interest free loans for energy efficiency investments have been available from the Carbon Trust. However, because of EU State Aid regulations, farming businesses could not get the loans; but now it looks like this situation is set to change. Back in July the Government published its Low Carbon Transition Plan and one of the key issues it addressed was farming’s role in achieving future carbon emission reductions.
A key action described in the plan was that Government would work with key groups such as the Carbon Trust, Regional Development Agencies, Environment Agency and Natural England to strengthen the support available for promoting low-carbon technologies. | |
